• Please note if submitting in Bitmap Formats a conversion fee of $30.00 will be assessed to convert bitmap to vector format. 

• Also note artwork taken from the Internet is generally 72 DPI bitmap art, therefore logos from company websites cannot be imprinted.

Unacceptable Formats Include: .doc .ppt .gif.

What Is Vector Art:

There are two types of artwork: vector art, and bitmap art. Vector art is the better of the two, providing the highest quality imprint and can only be viewed with special software. It can be scaled to fit on a billboard or fit on a key chain without losing any quality. Vector art will usually have one of these extensions after the file name: .eps , .ai , .cdr (example: logo.ai). One thing to remember when working with vector art is that all fonts must be converted to outlines. This means that text must be converted from a typed font, to shapes. By doing this you ensure that the text in the artwork maintains its integrity and imprints in the exact style intended. 

How To Convert Text To Outlines:

Converting text to outlines is very easy in Adobe Illustrator. The "PPI Sports, Inc." text in the graphic shown below (left) has a blue line underneath it. This shows that the text is made up of a typeface, not a graphic. The little blue square at the left end of the line indicates that the text is ranged left. If the type were centered, the little square would be in the middle of the line.

It's good practice to keep an editable copy of your document as an AI file before you convert text to outlines and save the file as an Illustrator EPS file. This is so that you can come back and edit it non-destructively later, instead of having to recreate the artwork with text again.

To convert text to outlines, go Select/Select All. It doesn't matter if other graphic elements are selected. Go Type/Create Outlines. The text will become outlined and can't be edited as text (see the image above right). Now, as you can see, the line beneath the text has gone. The text characters now have editable paths, or outlines, around them - they are no longer text, but vector graphics, and can be edited as such.
